RAINDANCE ANNOUNCES LINEUP OF
THE SECOND ANNUAL

November 4th at The Marjorie S. Deane Little Theater

LONDON and NEW YORK – (October 24, 2024) – Raindance New York is proud to host the Second Raindance New York Shorts Night on the evening of Wednesday, November 4th, at the Marjorie S. Deane Little Theater right next to Central Park West in Manhattan.

“Raindance is known as a festival of discovery,” says Raindance founder Elliot Grove. “Ever since Raindance launched in London back in 1993, year after year, Raindance has developed a reputation as the place to discover and be discovered. With our newly determined and defined focus on first and second-time filmmakers, we continue our campaign of championing new voices and the edgy, under-the-radar films that we at Raindance love so much. Come join our second autumnal celebration of the best new indie cinema in New York City and see what you discover. All we are saying is give film a chance.”

Raindance and Raindance New York celebrate that spirit of exploration and risk-taking, showcasing filmmakers who are not just telling stories but reshaping the very future of film. Raindance New York Fellowship Award

This year’s Raindance New York Fellowship Award recipient is Bec Fordyce, an Australian actress and filmmaker based in Queens, New York. Her short “Killer Shoes” was presented at the first Raindance New York Shorts Night in 2023.

This year, we are thrilled to present her most recent award-winning short, “The One Who Got Called In.”

“We are thrilled to present Bec with this year’s Raindance New York Fellowship Award. She has been immensely helpful with this year’s festival. As a filmmaker, she is fascinating to watch. She blends laughter and screams brilliantly, crafting a unique brand of horror that reminds us that fear and humor are two sides of the same coin. She truly exemplifies the spirit of Raindance,” said Lorge.

The Raindance New York Fellowship Award is presented to volunteers and members of Raindance hubs from around the globe who have provided invaluable assistance to Raindance New York and made a tremendous impact on our programming.

Education

Raindance New York continued an exciting partnership with filmmaker Noam Kroll this year.

New to Shorts Night this year, Noam is providing a session on micro-short filmmaking.

Micro-short filmmaking is the creation of a 2-3 minute short film with very specific goals in a pressure-free environment, much like a painter making a doodle or sketch before working on a larger canvas.

Meet Our Sponsor – CINECOLOR

In addition, Noam’s post-production house, CINECOLOR, is offering discounts on its products and services to all filmmakers who submit to or are selected for this year’s Raindance New York Shorts Night.

Filmmakers who receive awards will also receive a full CINECOLOR Master Pack of post-production assets.

CINECOLOR is an innovative post-production house that leverages remote workflows to provide high-end finishing services for projects of any size.
